Older and Fatter

Ellen says: Does getting older mean you'll get fatter? Maybe. Why? Because your body's basal metabolism, the rate at whih it burns calories ate rest slows down. This is true even though your activity level remains the same. Basal metabolism delines with primarily because metabolically-active muscle fiber is replaced with metabolically-inactive fat.

To maintain your desired weight as you grow older, you should do three things:(1) Do aerobic exercises to burn calories. (2) Cut back on the number of calories you eat, and lower the fat because fat has more calories. (3) Do some resistane exercise to maintain muscle density. To do this use wrist and ankle weights for floor exerises. Remember, it is muscle tissue that keeps the basal metabolism rate high.

Remember, too, that God is always there to help us no matter what our age.
