Yesterday was a BIG day for three Vietnamese monk-brothers of my community. Dom John Dat and Dom Dominic Dat took their Profession of Solemn Vows. Likewise, Dom peter Khoa transfered his Solemn Vows from his former community in Vietnam to my community at Christ in The Desert Monastery.

The one hour-and-a-half Solemn Consecration ceremony of the three monks highlighted the celebration of the Holy Eucharist which was presided by the Abbot Superior Rt. Rev. Abbot Philip Lawrence, OSB and was assisted by me as his Master of Ceremonies.

The one-and-a-half hour ceremony was followed shortly by a reception banquet for the guests, the monks of my community and the nuns of our neighboring community for women, at the refectory in Phase three.

Next to major shopping center Market! Market! in Taguig, Metro Manila, Philippines is a strip of trendy restaurants, bars, clubs, and retail store outlets which they call Bonifacio High Street. I was doing my rounds of my usual business stuff when I suddenly thought and felt the urge to take images of the place and so there you go....Bonifacio High Steet at its best!

At 2:30Pm Sunday of March 30th, Dom says: Today, my brothers in formation, Postulants, Novices and Junior monks (in my community) went up this canyon (photo below) to spend the whole day up above in this Springtime as they aim to give themselves time for more bonding and camaraderie. I did not join them this time as I am not feeling so hot about climbing it up anymore, though the Seniormonks were invited to come and join the fun. I don't want another cactus thorn as big and as sharp as a neddle to get stuck in my behind in descending the hill.

Life in a provincial city, like Naga City Bicol, is indeed a cool place to dwell in. No traffic jam, low crime rate, low commodity prices, and a simple life per se. Staying in a province like Bicol is a great experience for someone like me who wants to witness the celebration of how Bikolanos observe the Holy week.

A weekend party filled with childeen is indeed a very cool experience! I was invited by my friend-associate in her province in Bikol to attend a whole day celebration of their family reunion.

when I was still outside the monastery and was living as ordinary guy, I would go to the nearest countryside for my weekend beaching and swimming alone or with my buddies. I so loved taking a dip at the blue waters of the Philippine seas. This image was taken on a weekend at a private beach owned by Mr. Enrile at Puerto Galera. Thus, this weekend snapshot reminds me of my younger years outside the Cloister when I used to frolic along the beaches of Mindoro, Cavite, Cebu and Olongapo. This photo was taken when I was 43 years old.

Summertime is here....and so, districts and localities in Metro Manila have started preparing their firetrucks and parahernalia for eventualities thay may occur as the scorching heat of the season is fast crawling into the bonemarrows of every Manila resident. Dom's WS: neck deep of paperworks!
It's supposed to be a stress-free and a worry-free weekend for me but I guess, and I am afraid I shall tell you that couldn't achieve such.

How can I enjoy the weekend with these?...Loaded with paperworks! writing my evaluation papers to be submitted to my counselor tomorrow Monday when I go and visit her, and doing the finishing touches of my five-page autobiography to be mailed tomorrow to Abiquiu post office for my enrolment to the Seminary of St Meinrad, Indiana.
I guess let me pass this weekend to you dear ones as I am sure you deserve this weekend as you have been so busy the whole six working days of the week in your respective bread and butter....

I am gonna make it up for me the next weekend....

Just by looking at my image that I took ( i even forgot to shave, and all that huh!) you will certainly know that I am at this very moment in a hurry doing and wrapping up with such deadlines.

My entry is pretty late this time but its okay, what is most important is to show my memorable experience in coconut farm.

The Coconut Palm (Cocos nucifera) is a member of the Family Arecaceae (palm family). It is the only species in the genus Cocos, and is a large palm, growing to 30 m tall, with pinnate leaves 4-6 m long, pinnae 60-90 cm long; old leaves break away cleanly leaving the trunk smooth. The term coconut refers to the fruit of the coconut palm.

The coconut palm is grown throughout the tropical world, for decoration as well as for its many culinary and non-culinary uses; virtually every part of the coconut palm has some human use.

Checking-in on a plush hotel and staying in it on a weekend is very relaxing... one can get rid of the residue from so much stress from the week that passed that we absorbed from work, family matters and the harsh environment of heavy traffic, heat and the like- so, why not try spending one weekend inside a cool suite of one hotel in Manila or on the suburbs? I just did it one weekend and the experience has tremendously erased my stress and gave me so much comfort!
