mountaineering is fun

Gbex says: Mountaineering is the sport, hobby or profession of walking, hiking, backpacking and climbing mountains. In Europe it is also referred to as alpinism, while in the Americas the term refers to a particular style of mountain climbing, that involves a mixture of ice climbing, rock climbing, mixed climbing, and where the climbers carry all their loads with them at all times.

In the Himalayan regions the style of mountaineering is Expedition. While mountaineering began as attempts to reach the highest point of unclimbed mountains, it has branched into specializations that address different aspects of the mountain and consists of three areas : rock-craft, snow-craft and skiing, depending on whether the route chosen is over rock, snow or ice. All require experience, athletic ability, and technical knowledge to maintain safety.

The "Base Camp" of a mountain is an area used for staging an attempt at the summit. Base camps are positioned to be safe from the harsher conditions above. There are base camps on many popular or dangerous mountains. Where the summit cannot be reached from base camp in a single day, a mountain will have additional camps above base camp.

Tents are the most common form of shelter used on the mountain. These may vary from simple tarps to much heavier designs intended to withstand harsh mountain conditions.

In exposed positions, windbreaks of snow or rock may be required to shelter the tent. One of the downsides to tenting is that high winds and snow loads can be dangerous and may ultimately lead to the tent's failure and collapse. In addition, the constant flapping of the tent fabric can hinder sleep and raise doubts about the security of the shelter.

Dangers in mountaineering are sometimes divided into two categories: objective hazards that exist without regard to the climber's presence, like rockfall, avalanches and inclement weather, and subjective hazards that relate only to factors introduced by the climber.

Equipment failure and falls due to inattention, fatigue or inadequate technique are examples of subjective hazard. A route continually swept by avalanches and storms is said to have a high level of objective danger, whereas a technically far more difficult route that is relatively safe from these dangers may be regarded as objectively safer.

sea fatality against seamen's preparedness at sea

Gbex says: Can you imagine how many innocent lives were taken by a mere mistake and an erroneous handling of ship and/or of boat gears?
I don't really know exactly the term used to call a transmission that is being held by the captain of the ship or the pilot that makes the boat and/or ship run through the raging waters, but I guess you know what I am trying to say here - that a proper boating education and sea training should be possessed by someone who will handle and drive the ship in the waters...

The picture below shows a cupsized ship that took countless lives and missing ones as well---Could it be because of a natural calamity that struck the sea while this ship is on the middle of the raging waters? or is it otherwise???

I really don't know, but the bottomline is: alertness of the ship captain and the pilot on preparedness while onboard the ship is something that must be taken a very serious look and scrutiny before a student in a seaman school may be allowed to graduate...

treadmill is the best answer

Gbexs says: Last Saturday night, I was invited by a group of female friends to watch a fashion show and swimwear competition. I was so amazed at how the contestants would carry their skimpy swimwear...

I was eating my heat out when I witnessed these guys in colorful skimpy swimwear romped onstage. Alas! I coudn't see any trace of bulging beerbellies nor undesirable sides and love handles on these men in swimwear...

The next day, with my exasperation and envy- I went on the net and got a website that takes care of different body building equipment. Naaaaaaahh, I did not buy any barbel nor weights but I was more attracted to buy treadmill online because, I guess, what I needed most was a stationary jogging kind of indoor exercise to shed away my baby fats since I really do not have time for gymwork and outdoor sports...

Give me at least a month or two and I can proudly show you my trunk in a swimming trunk minus my beer belly and my distracting love handles. I bet you!....

Why don't you Come and visit this site as this may be the one that you may have been looking for in the net for your need of a treadmill that will solve your worries that emanate from your distracting belly....

cool headbands for you and me...

Gather round ye children, and listen to this!
There’s a revolutionary new type of headband that will blow all other basketball headbands right out of the water.

It’s called a forcefield handband, and it comes between your child and a head injury. The Forcefield Headbands are lightweight sports headbands that look and feel just like normal headbands, but there’s one key difference.

They reduce impact to the head by as much as 80%. You can find it at a great price at this sporting goods store. I just bought one for my cousin yesterday. He plays soccer.

You see, you can wear this in practically any sport you want. I’ll probably buy one for myself tomorrow. I may pick up some lace locks while I’m there too. Here's a detailed video of these lace locks.

silent river runs deep...

Dom says: The dirt road leading to the first signs of civilization is paralleled with a river that goes with it from the location where my monastery is located up a 6,800 feet valley in Chama district down to Abiquiu District.

During summer, Chama river, as what it is called by most of us since it is bounded by the Chama District in New Mexico, is the favorite place for boating and rafting spree of rafters and boatmen from up Colorado down to New Mexico...
I have not personally tried boating in the river but is thinking of trying the sports as soon as I get enough freetime from the routine of the monastery.

my best beach experience...

Dom says: I will never forget the day I enjoyed my summer getaway in a place secluded and far away from the heat of the city!

I am talking about the beach experience I had when I took a 20-day home visit to the Philippines, my native country last April 22nd-may 17th of this year!

It was in a place called Pasacao Beach located miles north of Naga City where I stayed with friends and relatives for a day-long beach frolics!

The rest of my story, i will leave to your imagination as I bet you!, you will eat your heart out by just listening to my best beach experience!

journey to the eerie mountain of Cristobal...

Gbex says: ey my friends, the reason why I was away for some days is because I went with a group of cliffhangers for an adventure in Quezon Province.
The conquest which we had recently was Cristobal Mountain in Dolores, Quezon, which is popularly knows as the 'spooky or evil mountain'.

Mt.Cristobal is found beside the Holy Mount Banahaw in Dolores Quezon. Cristobal mountain is said to be filled with evil spirits and the explanation for this is traced from the fact that if Mt. Banahaw is a mystical place which is good for healing and is the place for good spirits, then the flip side to it is Mt. Cristobal, which is the evil or spooky mountain.

Myth or rumors or what, please don't get scared because its trail leading to the mountain has a very good forest and vegetation. Its trail is moderately inclined with 4 - 5 hours of trekking.

Its campsite is at the crater and the peak is about 30 minutes away from the camp. During the rainy season, half of the crater can be filled with water and can turn into a stagnant lagoon of all sorts.
Try to trek the mountain at night to see for yourself if the legends were true or not!!! ( my hairs are rising just the thought of the night sight that I experienced at the campground waaahhhhhhhh).

sports that are breathtakingly fantastic...

Motocross (often shortened to MX or MotoX) is a form of motorcycle sport or all-terrain vehicle racing held on enclosed off road circuits. Motocross is derived from the French, and traces its origins to British Scrambling competitions. The name "motocross" is a portmanteau derived from the words "Motorcycle" and "Cross Country".
Motocross is distinct from other forms of motorsport in having a mass start, where all the riders line up alongside each other, starting simultaneously and racing the race distance. The first rider across the finish is the winner of that "moto"; the number of motos may vary and points are added up to determine the final winner.

Motos vary in duration, measured in time elapsed plus one or two laps, or alternatively a fixed number of laps. Top level racing tends to have long races (e.g. 30 minutes plus 9 laps) while at the other end of the spectrum, amateur races can be as short as 5 minutes. When the designated time duration of the race is complete, a finish line flagger signals via a board or flag to the racers that there are one or two laps left, and the race is finished by a checkered flag.

Motocross tracks are often quite large (a quarter mile) and incorporate natural terrain features with varying amounts of man-made jumps and other features. It is not unheard of for a Motocross track to be made up entirely of hills and turns with tons of jumps. In contrast, Supercross is an entirely man-made track, comprised almost exclusively of a wide array of jumps, and is typically held in an indoor stadium. Due to the size of outdoor tracks, motocross races typically include 40 racers, while supercross races usually have about 20.

Kart racing or karting is a variant of open-wheeler motor sport with simple, small four-wheeled vehicles called karts, go-karts, or gearbox/shifter karts depending on the design. They are usually raced on scaled-down circuits. Karting is commonly perceived as the stepping stone to the higher and more expensive ranks of motorsports.

Karts vary in speed and some (known as Superkarts) can reach speeds exceeding 160 mph (250 km/h). A Formula A kart, with a 100 cc 2 stroke engine and an overall weight including the driver of 150 kilograms, can accelerate from 0-60 mph in under 4.5 seconds, and has a top speed of 85 mph (140 km/h). It takes a little more than 3 seconds to go from 0 to 60 mph with a 125 cc shifter kart (6 gears), with a top speed of 115 mph (185 km/h) on long circuits.

Mass calisthenics

The next day I spent with my foreigner friend was indeed filled with fun. That was the day when we located the residence of his fiancee and as well as toured the city for one whole day.

In the early morning of that day,I woked him up and urged him to join a group of Pinoys doing their early morning exercise at the city's public park to let him experience a different kind of sports exposure and as well as to make him get conditioned for the whole day's trips to and fro in the city.
He gladly said yes as he told me that it might give him a different kind of enjoyment as he has no experience at all of that sort in his place.

He did what I advised him but his joining the crowd only gave the group an uneasy and funny commotion as the participants of the mass calisthenics were divided of their attention as to whether they will look at the leader of the group doing the steps of the exercises onstage or they will keep their stare at their guest-participant doing the steps of the mass calisthenics.

Towards the end of the exercises, a flock of bystanders and onlookers were gathered around the formation as if they were watching a shooting of a movie or commercial.

The morning exercises experience was filled with fun and laughter!...
