The Metropolitan Theater is on its major renovation stage. The “Met,” as it is fondly referred to as the “grand dame” of Manila’s theaters, was the venue of almost all of stage plays, beauty pageants, and other artistic presentations in the past.
It's glory was lost when fell into decay a decade ago and closed down in 1996 following a long-running dispute between the Government Service Insurance System and the City of Manila over its ownership and management....I was once on its grand stage when I joined the Search for 'Ginoong Pilipinas' (Mr. Philippines) Male Beauty Pageant in year 1994 ( I was then 18 years of age).
And now, as its mess is being cleaned up and its renovation is at its final phase, its curtains will soon rise again to glory and splendor to the Filipinos as the “new” Metropolitan Theater at the Liwasang Bonifacio in Manila.
