When caffeine hits your stomach, the body senses it is being poisoned. The body immediately sounds the defense signal to your drenal glands-which are our back up emergency glands-telling them to get some adrenaline flowing to the body. The adrenaline stimulates the liver to begin pumping it's stored glucose into the bloodstream.
The blood cells must have this quick shot of energy in order to get rid of the caffeine as soon as it enters the bloodstream. Why? To keep you from dropping dead from caffeine poisoning! As a result, you feel an extra surge of energy from the added glucose in bloodstream. That's the high you get!
