Ellen Says: Dianne, a friend of mine has always been overweight, from a very early age. She continued through her teens into her thirties and finally got to her heaviest of 415 pounds at the age of 40. Her doctor had already warned her that she was borderline diabetic, had high blood pressure, and a hereditary weight condition, and she was classed as morbidly obese and that if she didn't lose weight she could be dead in a couple of years.
She had tried every diet in the book throughout her life. Things finally came to a head when she realized drastic action needed to be taken, as only being married to her husband for 4 years and now blissfully happy, she owed it to herself and her husband to lose the weight.
She researched the website for information on the lap band and found the right site. She had the operation, and apart from a little discomfort felt extremely well and her life had been preserved for some more years to enjoy things that she have not done or could not do in the past due to the excessive weight. Her life was now on a new path. She sat wondering about being able to get clothes to fit and that now she would be able to eventually bend over to tie shoe laces, and the way her life would alter.
Definitely the lap is an extreme solution, but exactly for who are in extreme situation.
