Sunblock

Ellen Says: Basking in the sun for up to 15 minutes each day without sunblock is encourged to absorb the necessary Vitamin D needed for healthy, strong bones and teeth. However, being outside in the sun for prolonged periods of time without protecting your skin can lead to wrinkles, sun burns, and skin cancers.

The suns rays can be dangerous, and too much sun exposure can lead to serious help problems. That is why most people turn to sunblock to protect their skin from the harmful rays of the sun. To prevent damage from the sun, be sure to apply the Best Sunblock.

Even though the name says it all, some people aren't aware that sunblock is different from sunscreen. People’s misconception of sun-block is that it is applied to prevent darkening of the skin that is exposed to heat, but the fact is, it does not actually prevent darkening. Its main function is to protect the skin from the sun’s UV rays, which is harmful to the skin. It literally “blocks” any UV rays from penetrating skin avoiding skin damage, sunburn, or signs of premature aging, whereas sunscreen absorbs the UV rays as its form of sun protection. It is recommended that everyone over the age of six months use sunblock daily, but especially if you are going outdoors for a long period of time, for instance on a run or swim.

There are two types of these products: chemical and physical. The first actually absorbs UV rays, much like sunscreen, before it can damage your skin, while the second contains ingredients that allow it to reflect and scatter the UV rays before they can cause harm to your skin. If you're a swimmer or are prone to sweating excessively, you may want to look for a product that is water resistant. This feature allows your skin to be protected for a certain period of time while in the water as opposed to being exposed directly.

People go to the beaches especially during summer. But, oops, before enjoying the waters, one must never forget to apply sunblock. With the damaged ozone layer, UV rays which may cause skin cancer, can easily penetrate.

When deciding on your sunblock take into account what type of activity you will be participating in and choose accordingly. Certain sunblock products are made with specific activities in mind. Remember there are sunblock lotions that are better for kids and softer on sensitive skin.
