Snacking is still okay...

Ellen says:Let's face it-kids like to snack; and for good reason. The idea that snacking is bad for kid is a myth. In fact, many pediatricians consider snacking to be important to kid's nutrition and healthy growth development. Why? Because snacking provides growing children 25 to 30 percent of their daily recquired caloric intake.

Of course, the kinds of the foods kid eat for snack determines whether they are any health benefit. That's why kids need healthy snacks like low-fat crackers and cookies, cut up vegetables, fresh fruit fig bars,a nd popcorn.

Limiting between-meal eating isn't good for children. Why? Because sit-down meals tend to be too large for kids, but snacks are just right for their appetites and interest level.

The mother of the boy who gave Jesus his lunch had packed only a small amount, but it was wnough for a child his size. Keep in mind the next time you pack your child's lunch or plate for dinner.
