Ellen says: Difficulties in our family can overwhelm us. It seems that everytime we try to take a step forward, old problems rise up again, or new problems confront us. We feel badly not only for the negative experiences we go through, but for the absences of the positive experiences we miss out on. Healing a family relationship is not easy, and it's not quick. But if it is what you really want, you will eventually be able to rebuild family connections. You must give yourself time and you must fuel yourself with hope.

In a long term studies of people experiencing a high degree of family conflict, seven out of ten report that their family relationship has signnificantly improved over a five year time span.
