Another view is a strength not a weakness

Ellen says: There is often at least one person in a family whose personality is a bit different. They see things differently and want different things out of life. This is not a reason for concern. People with the same personality are no more likely to always get along than are people with very different personalities. There is no need to try to explain the differences because different personalities are no more determinative of your family's future than are different shoe sizes.

Albert, a friend of mine is an odd duck to a ten-person family. Her sister used to ask him if he was really neighbor's kid since he was different in so many ways. He liked different music, different books , different subjects, different foods, different clothes, just about everything.

According to him, there are a lot of teasing because they didn't agree on everything. And sometimes he seemed that his personality is insulted that he saw things differently than they did. As if he like different things just to bother them or that he was saying that they were'nt good enough for him. He never felt that way of course, but he wasn't into pretending that he liked everybody else did either.

Albert said, he will never forget the day he finally realized he really was accepted, no matter how different he was from his family members. They were debating then whether the toyota were a better basketball team than crispa, and he remembered that his younger brother was ready to disown him. And his father who was sitting in the next chair, said to his brother that the world can't function only on "yes men" He cherish the memory of that moment that having a different opinion wasn't a bad thing and that was realy important and good thing. That was the first time he had the feeling that being different might even be something to appreciate.
