10 Ways to Help Children Develop Healthy Habits

I always hear my friends couple, Ellen and Rinzo, a couple, that they must start moving to get a healthy lifestyle and regimen as they are both already in their forties.

Their rationale is simple: They want to live a longer life! They know that good health habits can help them reduce their risk of cardiac arrest or in common terms: a heart attack!

Well, I want to let them know that not only adults are at risk of a cardiac arrest, but kids like their youngest son, whom I fondly call as 'mutant', is also at risk.

So, I guess it is time that I should tell them how to raise a child free of cardiac arrests!

1.Be a positive role model.
2.Get the whole family active.
3.Limit TV, video game and computer time.
4.Encourage physical activities that children really enjoy.
5.Be supportive.
6.Set specific goals and limits, such as one hour of physical activity a day or two desserts per week other than fruit.
7.Don’t reward children with food.
8.Make dinnertime a family time.
9.Make a game of reading food labels.
10.Stay involved.
