beat the sweat...

Gbex says: I don't think and I hope that I will not sound so domesticated if I post this important info for mothers and nannies as well... DO you know that playing is as natural to kid as breathing? Yes it is.
It is through playing that he explores and learns about the world around him. This is why playtime is a necessary part of kid's development.

The minute a kid starts playing, he becomes more prone to sweating. Walking, jumping, running, dancing--all this flurry of activities causes his little body to produce more sweat. And if he is exposed to the sun and heat, he sweats even more.

Sweating itself is healthy and natural, since it is the body's way of regulating its temperature.

Sweat makes kid's skin feel damp and uncomfortable. And since kids is unaware of causing his discomfort and is unable to do anything about it, this makes him feels helpless and irritable.

Kid's pores are a lot smaller than an adult and are therefore easily clogged. Excessive sweating can clog kid's skin pores and can lead to rashes. And rashes can be very itchy and irritable. It is also traditionally believed that allowing sweat to dry on skin can aggrevate pre-existing conditions of colds and cough.

Since we can't prevent sweating, the best thing we can do is to make sure that his sweat doesn't stay on his skin. Before letting the kids to play, just simply apply baby powder to his skin especilly on his back, chest, neck and under arms.

Baby powder absorbs sweat -- in the same way that a towel absorbs sweat from his back. Thus, by applying baby powder even before he plays, we are able to protect his skin. So that even if he sweats, we are able to keep the sweat off his skin--leaving him feeling dry and comfortable.
