Dom says: It's final! The Sisters of Our Lady of the Desert is moving out from their present Cloistered house fifty meters away from the compound Cloister house of my community in the second week of June.
In connection with their moving-out, the Prior of my community was just too supportive of them by asking all of us, the monks of our community to help the sisters, in one way or the other, to make the relocation to their new Cloister house successful.
Likewise, Dom Cecilien, a Malagas monk in Temporary Vows, was asked to manage the transport of the sister's old furniture to their new Cloister house in Gobernador, Farmington, NM.
Dom Gerard, an Indian monk in Perpetual Vows, was given the task to buy new sets of quality furniture that will furnish the refectory or dining room and receiving room of the sisters at their new Cloister house as they plan to continue receiving guests from all over the place for weekend personal retreats and supervised ones. These quality furnitures will surely give zest to an appropriate and much needed ambience of silence and solitude to the retreatants.
Dom Anselmo, a Mexican monk in Temporary Vows, and the one in-charge of our guesthouse of thirteen rooms, was assigned to make quotations of a bedroom furniture for every room of the guest house that the nuns will put up to augment their source of livelihood and as well as to materialize the monastery's outside apostolate.
And since I am the one who is currently in-charge of our community's giftshoppe, I was requested by our Prior to manage the purchase of a brand-new set of Home office furniture because the nuns will also open a small giftshoppe in the vicinity adjacent to the monastery's guest-receiving room so as to give a very good access to their resident guesthouse occupants and walk-in customers as well.
So, I guess, with the able and willing assistance of the monks of my community, the nuns will have a very successful relocation of their new Cloister house in Gobernador! I am glad all of us, monks, who were asked to help them were just too willing to give our helping hands! Not to mention our vow of obedience to our Prior superior.
